AUSTRALIA’S ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH AND POLICY CENTER
All of this should be the legacy we leave to future generations: pure water to drink and clean air to breathe; a healthy ocean that is safe for species; conserved open spaces; and clean energy sources that do not pollute and never run out. Our team conducts research, educates the public, and achieves tangible results.
SUPPORT FOR THE FOUNDATION
Resources Legacy Fund, Energy Foundation, The Streisand Foundation, The Lawrence Foundation, Fonda Family Foundation, Arntz Family Foundation, The Surf Pony Fund at Community Foundation Santa Cruz County, Park Foundation, and The Schmidt Family Foundation/The 11th Hour Project supported ANAWA’s work in Fiscal Year 2020 through the Sustaining Australia’s Ocean program.
Public education and making our opinions heard
More than 100,000 Australians have been surveyed regarding the harmful impact of single-use plastic bags on the environment. The use of disposable bags has fallen by 33% in just two years. Fourteen cities and counties have prohibited the use of disposable plastic bags, and many more are considering doing so.
Every day, we witness more tragic proof of our planet’s devastation: climate change, plastic waste, and species extinction. But we also see the solutions all around us, virtually beckoning us to accept them: solar and wind energy, electric cars and buses, more walkable and “bikeable” cities, recycling and repairing rather than discarding items, and so on.
The purpose of ANAWA is to use the power of our imaginations and ideas to create change that makes our planet a greener and healthier place for everyone.
